During my time here in Burkina, I will be working with Serving In Mission (SIM) and Burkina Faso Outreach (BFO) doing youth ministry in the village of Yako. Yako is 2 hours northwest of Ouagadougou, the capital of Burkina Faso. While in Yako, I will specifically be working with Lynn Peters who started BFO.
Last year, Lynn started a shelter classroom in a small village right ouside of Yako. The pre-K classroom that was held at the shelter last year went so well that the students are continuing on to 1st grade. I will be assisting the first grade teacher and helping develop Bible-based curriculum.
In addition, I will be assisting the child sponsorship program with BFO and helping complete home visit, as well as organizing youth nights for some of the sponsored children.
